Video compilation of Vietnam, Thailand, and Korea

Phil premiered the Asia 2008 video to us right before the New Year in full 1080 HD quality. Unfortunately, streaming 25 minutes of HD quality footage would be hopeless. I’ve compressed the video down to share online (sacrificing a bit of the quality). Enjoy a little piece of Asia thanks to Phil.

    Happy New Year, Derek!
Beautiful footage – what a great memory for later in life. Presentation is stellar – care to share some details on the work that went into the editing and production?

Our friend Phil did all of the video + editing. He does this kind of stuff for a living. He shot the video with a Canon handheld. The original footage was in pristine 1080i which resulted in some great detail on the big screen. Software was Final Cut Pro with editing on a MacBook Pro.

Photos were taken by either myself (Nikon D80) or Syl (Canon SD).

I didn’t think anybody else knew about Kenna, awesome song selection! What did you shoot this video with?

Great video (quality as well, it’s a nice change from the YouTube-esque quality videos around the web). The food looked delicious, and it looked like you guys had a lot of fun. I’m jealous because I haven’t done much outside of my bubble here in California.

Hey bro, enjoyed the video. Enjoyed all 23:46 of it haha. How much (average) was the total cost for the trip? I plan on visiting Asia one day.

    • Derek says:

Round trip tickets were $1100 per person – included any fees for required documents. $100 for a current passport. $400 – $500 for spending. Cost would vary depending on the city and hotels you stay in.

  6. Kelsey says:

    How long were you there?
