Unstandard Theme, WordPress 3.0+ ready

Finally. Neglected but not forgotten, the Unstandard WordPress theme update is available for download. The jump from version 1.2.1 to 2.0 includes a complete re-write and supports post thumbnails (no more fiddling with custom fields), custom backgrounds and nested menus. The design has been modified slightly but still includes multiple color options as child themes (which should make it easier for everyone to customize their own flavors). Enjoy!

    Hi Derek!
Love the theme, and I’m so glad I found it ๐Ÿ™‚
I have a question though: is it at all possible to put a search box in the header section (where the custom menu goes)?

    Thanks for your time!

Derek I am totally in to this theme. I have a question though (doesn’t everyone though) When I add new posts and the previews go to the front page. I’m up to 8 including the large primary preview image. I would really love to only show my 4 most recent posts though. Could you point me in the right direction on where I would need to make edits?

Thanks for any help you are willing to give.

dear Derek, thanks a lot for your very beautiful theme ๐Ÿ™‚ im using it right now and very satisfied with it. I got one question to ask, the picture banner on the home, which is one long banner, which is its width is 620px. When i set one of my post’s picture for the featured image, at the home seems that the picture is not resized to 620px. is there any way, that, when i set one picture as the featured image, it automatically resized to 620px to fit the banner? Thanks a lot ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Hello Derek.

Thanks for the theme. It’s realy great theme. I’ve edited it.

I’ve added category, tag, search and archive page. I think, I’ll use it for all my web sites.

    Thanks again.

    Dear Sir,

I have installed your unstandard theme which I find very nice. I seem however to have a problem with the menu:

    1. If I have too many menu fields, then menus double up to form two rows, without a separator line in between the two rows.

    2. Are the menus flash driven ? They don’t seem to work on iphone / ipad.

Have you had any problem installing WPML Multi-Lingual plug-in ?

I seem to have a permission issue which prevents the wpml plugin from working correctly.

  8. David says:

I also have a strange issue with the background. When and if I change the background colour, and I access (refresh) the site, the new colour appears momentarliy, then it dissapears to let the backgroundless colour come back.

I want to say this is also related to your server – possibly a caching issue? Did you use a web inspector on the live site to check if the style change was actually accepted and or is being overridden by something else?

  9. David says:

Last but not least, how does one adress the issue of a relative vs absolute URLs with this theme ? Or is this a more generic wordpress issue ? If i have a dev server, some of the links on my menu appear as relative links and preserve a dev server url as in “dev.server.com”, while others keep an absolute reference. How do I distinbguish both, as I don’t seem to find any differences in the menu items.

I have installed the “Root Relative URLs” plugin.

Is it possible for me to modify this theme to suit my purposes? I will still attribute the original of course.

  11. Alex says:

Im getting this error when i try to install the theme via zip file, does anyone know how i could fix that?? v

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

    Theme install failed.

I want to know how I can change the color of the menu bar and how I can change the number of thumbs posts. I want to show more posts on the first page.

  13. John Coxon says:

If I navigate to Settings -> Reading, there is an option named “Blog pages show at most x posts”. Setting this to an odd number guarantees a nice-looking front page, but gives pages 2 onwards a single post in the last row. Setting it to an even number makes the last row into a single post on the front page, but gives subsequent pages two posts in the last row. Is there any way to have my cake and eat it โ€“ i.e., to have an odd number of posts on the front page and a different, even number on subsequent pages?
