Reminds me of my first blogging experience. Who didn’t start their blogging tenure with Blogger? My first personal blog was http://eatinwokout.blogspot.com/. Sadly, no real remnants of the blog using the Wayback Machine were found. I kind of wish I had a screenshot of the old layout. The first real effort I devoted to modifying a blog template.

I had decided that 5ThirtyOne would not serve as an online piece of Kleenex for myself to share personal activities or issues outside of the net. However, because I did manage to enjoy a little meet and greet with a Professional Diarist, a “not everyone from Intel looks like a geekest”, and a local representing the <strike>Silicon</strike> Soggy Valley of the Pacific Northwest, we’ll let this one slide.

As an internet user, I often associate contacts online with their respective companies, profiles, or personal pages. Aside from the instant messages, emails, and “Look! They’re so real! So that’s what they look like?” photographs on Flickr, the idea of meeting said contact(s) in the flesh rarely crosses the mind. Fortunately, for myself and dear little syl, we managed to have a few bites and words with some of the nets finest.

Noah Kagan (Facebook & OkDork) – Meeting Noah explains the reason why Facebook pokes to college students are like crack pipes to addicts in a halfway house. No wonder students are drawn towards the blue hued interface of this social networking giant. What the?! [3] Matching [Suzuki] bikes? How !@#.

Jenn (Intel) – Noah’s better half; also the reason why Noah enjoys pictures. Jenn doesn’t know it, but she’s a food photoblogger. I’ll help you out if you need a page Jenn. Jenn: You ate all my brownie. Noah: No look, there’s a piece stuck to the back of the fork. Jenn: Mmm.

David Xue (PixPulse) – Just across the pond right here in the gray state of Washington. It’s always a pleasure meeting locals from the Pacific Northwest’s <strike>Silicon</strike> Soggy Valley. By the way, let’s agree that it’s a bakery, I know I’m going to hear it later from syl.

So there you have it. A quick post meet and greet. One blogger, one professional diarist, one food photoblogger, and one media sharing guru. I can now confirm that the other people on the other end are indeed very much as real as I am. They just happen to have cooler jobs.

I am a little miffed / surprised but it looks like my Squidoo lens regarding MySpace is sitting at #1 on the Top 100 chart (quick check now before it falls off the board!).

For those unaware of the purpose behind Seth Godin’s Squidoo, think of the service as a platform allowing you to present information in which you believe yourself to be the all-mighty know it all. However, do not mistake my lens as proof that I know what I’m talking about regarding MySpace. The lens was created simply to collect all the information that I thought would have been useful to the worlds professional MySpace-ers. Ack.

On a more humorous note, a random reader tipped me to the fact that I had listed the Mozilla extensions website as Mozilla ASSons rather than ADDons.

By the way, when I initially signed up for Squidoo during its beta period, the idea was that Lensmasters would get a cut of the profit for creating high traffic lens. What’s the status on the kickbacks?
