Bangkok, shopping, food, and the Grand Palace
Due to the increasing cost of airline tickets, our original plan to visit Ko Samui was canceled. Instead, we spent our entire time in Thailand exploring Bangkok.
Despite being an entertaining way to get around the city, avoid Tuk Tuk’s. Drivers may seem friendly, but their ulterior motive is to get you to spend money by taking you to shops or stores on the way to your intended destination. Our Tuk Tuk driver took us to a building which he described as a museum. Upon stepping inside, we realized that we had been taken to a pricey jewelry store.
The Grand Palace - used as the royal residence of the King of Thailand. In order to tour the Palace, you must wear long pants. Naturally, the majority of us were wearing shorts which we covered with pants rented right outside the gates. Each statue, painting, and building within was a collection of intricate [colorful] details.

Vietnam is my dream plan to see….
Hi Derek! Very nice post & photos!
You definitely need to come back to Thailand one day, so much things to see here (travel North if you can)!
If you need, I can be your tour guide! (I live & work in BKK)
Cheers,
Max
Great trip Derek. Btw, I’m using your old theme October Special, and made some modifications. Maybe you wanna take a look.
Cheers
To bad you missed out on Koh Samui. It’s a really awsome place to hang. But I guess you already got a fair chair of awsome places. heheh
Thanks for the beautiful photography and epic post-
Arrgh! planes!
Wicked post and some really nice pictures! I was literally in Nha Trang at the very same time, even on Vinapearl island… did you go in the water park? And the sailing club?
Anyway keep it up and thought you might want to have a look at my travel blog, got some nice features like a geo-tagged picture map etc that’s all fed from a nokia n95 and WiFi, let me know what you think…
Come to Malaysia. You won’t be disappointed.
Awesome, I like your photos.
Will you come Vietnam again?
You’re a certified travel bug, I see. Travelling truly broaden ones horizons. I’ve been to Folsom and had a fun adventure!
