Fonts 500 - The web’s Top 500 free font downloads

If there was ever a free fonts download website to garner any excitement it would be Fonts 500. The website has an incredibly large collection of free font downloads worthy of adding to your bookmark(s) collection. Font popularity is based on download activity from larger font resources found throughout the net. Previews are presented in a clean fashion with an option to input your own sample text. Incredibly easy to use, simple to navigate, and quite possibly the one site to visit for free fonts. Where do you look for free font downloads on a whims notice?
The website may not have returned to full capacity after being heavily linked. Download the current Top 500 fonts (26MB ZIP). I’ll remove this link as soon as the site returns.

Nice site. I personally use dafont.com, but they don’t seem to get that much new stuff.

I’ve always used dafont as well. It’s just very user friendly with lots of search options and the ability to use your own text input. Sounds like fonts500 offers the same, but I’ll now have two reliable font sites to choose from.

They lack a decent search … a pre-req for any site with more than 100 of anything
I like http://www.abstractfonts.com as well.

I’ve always gone for dafont as well. Fonts 500 is down—maybe everyone flooded their site after you posted about it? Hee.

Fonts 500 is definitely taking a hit from all the major sites linking to it. Let’s hope it comes back soon.

Well, Fonts 500 is “back” — none of the features Derek mentioned, alas, but a zip file supposedly containing all the fonts (and a note that their power supply escaped, hee hee). The download looks promising, although I’ll know in an hour (the download’s crawling at 9kbps).
Fonts fonts fonts!

Yup, they definitely are back. Not in the full form that they were when I initially loaded the website… I’ve mirrored the current Top 500 fonts. You can download the 26MB ZIP and manually sift through the fonts. I’ll take this link down when the site returns.

My download from their site’s finished (a while back) and I’m loving the fonts–I have a few of them already but one can’t beat 500 fabulous fonts in one download! I’m definitely recommending these.
