It all started with a “Free Delivery” via email. A notification that I had been invited to download a small set of royalty-free icons straight from IconBuffet servers. I admit that my interest soon waned as the idea of constantly seeking specific sets to complete an icon collection sounded altogether time consuming and tedious. Weeks passed until an opportunity presented itself requiring the use of detail oriented icons. Being in somewhat of a bind, I rediscovered the convenience of IconBuffet’s paid-for icon sets. Paid for icons are like fonts; sound investments which may ultimately improve your productivity and results later on down the road.
Although budget developers may balk at the premium price(s) for higher pixel count [detailed] sets, understand that IconBuffet appeals to the masses by offering more affordable icon options – even going so far as to offer free icon sets acquired through icon swaps. These swaps require a little detective work wading through requests in the forum, or chancing upon posted opportunities such as this. With a little patience & strategy, your persistence may soon pay off resulting in a sizable collection of royalty-free icons. Yeah… Things have been so busy as of late that I can’t get my portfolio site up and running. My random thoughts and a Django experiment are housed elsewhere, though. Once I finish some freelance projects I’m on I’ll give my portfolio site some breath. It’s very Pentagram (Paula Scher) inspired.
