Earlier this week, I returned to the U-Village Apple Store in order to place a second order for the same shell replaced due to the yellow discoloration which an isolated number of MacBook users experienced - myself included. The reason for the second repair? An unresponsive trackpad button pinpointed to be caused during the initial repair.
Anyway, the reason for the short post is not my own Apple product, but that of the young woman to my left. She had returned to exchange her silver iPod Mini which suffered from some sort of hardrive mishap. Naturally, I wouldn’t raise an eyebrow after hearing about said topics. Fortunately, the Geniu Bar rep assisting her inquired with a very entertaining question:
Do you place your iPod near a computer? Sometimes computers tend to emit an electromagnetic disturbance which may explain the reason for your iPod’s hardrive failure.
*Cough*

Oh those Apple techs are so uncanny.

ROFL! Well, they don’t call them Apple Genius’ for nothing. It is amazing how dumb a lot of the Apple techs are, not so much the Genius bar ones, but the AppleCare ones specificially. It took me at least 5 attempts to actually get a AppleCare “Product Specialist” that knew anything about the discoloration issue that I was having with my MacBook. The best part was when one of them actually told me to “change my hand soap” I was like… are you joking me? haha. I couldn’t help but laugh at him lol.

Oh shit, you’re in Seattle?! I used to live a mere six blocks from that Apple store.
I actually applied to be a Genius there about six months ago. Nice to know they picked some *real* qualified people for the post instead.

Yes indeed I did Derek, in fact, your site was a bit of a reference when it came to handling the Apple Techs. It was quite the experience to say the least. I did finally get it back with the discoloration fixed, after sending it in 2 times. But I guess as long as I don’t have to pay for it, I’m not any worse for ware.

So are you certain that your latest shell will not discolor? Is i showing any signs? I already had my original shell replaced and have another that arrived at the store. I’m trying to decide if I should just wait for another replacement shell rather than using the second one only to find it discolored as well.
