I had decided that 5ThirtyOne would not serve as an online piece of Kleenex for myself to share personal activities or issues outside of the net. However, because I did manage to enjoy a little meet and greet with a Professional Diarist, a “not everyone from Intel looks like a geekest”, and a local representing the Silicon Soggy Valley of the Pacific Northwest, we’ll let this one slide.

As an internet user, I often associate contacts online with their respective companies, profiles, or personal pages. Aside from the instant messages, emails, and “Look! They’re so real! So that’s what they look like?” photographs on Flickr, the idea of meeting said contact(s) in the flesh rarely crosses the mind. Fortunately, for myself and dear little syl, we managed to have a few bites and words with some of the nets finest.

  • Noah Kagan (Facebook & OkDork) - Meeting Noah explains the reason why Facebook pokes to college students are like crack pipes to addicts in a halfway house. No wonder students are drawn towards the blue hued interface of this social networking giant. What the?! [3] Matching [Suzuki] bikes? How !@#.
  • Jenn (Intel) - Noah’s better half; also the reason why Noah enjoys pictures. Jenn doesn’t know it, but she’s a food photoblogger. I’ll help you out if you need a page Jenn. Jenn: You ate all my brownie. Noah: No look, there’s a piece stuck to the back of the fork. Jenn: Mmm.
  • David Xue (PixPulse Check out PixPulse if you’re interested in a free mobile and internet image / video sharing service. Clutter free sharing interfaces makes things so much easier. Upload files directly from your mobile phone and allow friends to drop comments or messages.) - Just across the pond right here in the gray state of Washington. It’s always a pleasure meeting locals from the Pacific Northwest’s Silicon Soggy Valley. By the way, let’s agree that it’s a bakery, I know I’m going to hear it later from syl.

So there you have it. A quick post meet and greet. One blogger, one professional diarist Noah denies the fact that OkDork qualifies him as a blogger; hence the self proclamation that he is indeed a professional diarist., one food photoblogger, and one media sharing guru. I can now confirm that the other people on the other end are indeed very much as real as I am. They just happen to have cooler jobs.
