Its a bit faster, more stable, better at conserving power & has the added benefit of handling all network traffic properly, i.e., you don't have to use something like Proxifier. As well, its been the defacto standard tethering app on other devices for years so the company has a long history of knowing what they're doing when it comes to tethering. I found the app yesterday after I decided to go the Jailbreak route again. The desktop client should really stress the importance and advantage of setting up a network password immediately when the app is launched though.
